Part 1: Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto Installation

Step 1: Find Your CarPlay USB Port

Locate the factory CarPlay USB port in your car — usually in the centre console or dashboard. This is the port you use for wired CarPlay today.

Step 2: Plug In the TBox Ambient

  1. Connect the USB cable to the TBox Ambient
  2. Plug into your car's CarPlay USB port
  3. The unit will power on — LED indicator will glow

Step 3: Pair Your iPhone

  1. On your iPhone: Settings → Wi-Fi → connect to Carlinkit-XXXX
  2. Then: Settings → General → CarPlay → select your car
  3. Wireless CarPlay launches on your screen!

Step 4: Pair Your Android Phone

  1. Connect to Carlinkit-XXXX WiFi on your Android
  2. Open Android Auto app and follow pairing prompts
  3. Android Auto launches wirelessly

Part 2: RGB Ambient Light Setup

Step 1: Connect the Ambient Light Strip

  1. Locate the ambient light connector port on the TBox Ambient unit (separate from the USB port)
  2. Connect your car's existing ambient light strip cable to this port
  3. If your car doesn't have a factory ambient light strip, you can use a compatible aftermarket LED strip

Compatible cars: Most cars with factory ambient lighting from 2019 onwards. Check your car manual for ambient light connector location.

Step 2: Open the Carlinkit App

  1. Download the Carlinkit app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Connect your phone to the TBox Ambient's WiFi network
  3. Open the app — you'll see the Ambient Light control panel

Step 3: Customize Your RGB Colours

The Carlinkit app gives you full control over your ambient lighting:

  • Solid colours: Choose any colour from the full RGB spectrum

You can also control ambient lighting directly from your car's touchscreen:

  1. On the car screen, open the TBox home menu
  2. Tap Ambient Light
  3. Select colour, mode, and brightness

Troubleshooting

❌ Ambient lights not turning on

  • Check that the ambient light cable is firmly connected to the TBox unit
  • Ensure the TBox is fully powered on (wait 60 seconds after plugging in)
  • Try toggling the ambient light off and on in the app

❌ Colours look different from the app

  • This is normal for some LED strips — calibrate using the app's colour correction setting
  • Ensure your LED strip is RGB-compatible (not single-colour)

❌ Music sync not working

  • Ensure audio is playing through the car speakers (not headphones)
  • Grant microphone permission to the Carlinkit app
